Big Brother 8 Launches in the UK
Some would argue that the British version of Big Brother has much better twists than its US cousin. They do get the Celebrity installment, after all!
Season 8 of Big Brother UK kicked off last night, and brought in some pretty great ratings. According to Reuters, over 8 million fans tuned in for the premiere. So what’s the twist for this season? All eleven houseguests are female!
Tomorrow night three men will be eligible to enter the house, with only one being asked to move in. The eleven ladies already in the house will choose which man will join them. Wow. I don’t know that I’d want to be that man! Can you imagine living in a house with eleven women that you don’t know? I’m a woman myself, and I’m pretty sure I’d want to stay far away from that kind of situation.
Among the current cast are a pair of 18-year-old twins (who have to be more tolerable than our own Fitness Twins from season 5), a 19-year-old who is obsessed with Victoria Beckham, and a 53-year-old woman who is very actively anti-war and seems to be quite opinionated. Oh, and there’s also a girl who claims that she and her sisters are known as the “Hilton sisters of London.” Now there’s something to be proud of.

Hi Carrie, great idea for a blog, and I wish you lots of success. Just so you know, I’ll be covering the UK Big Brother series quite closely, as I’m an addict.
I started with a rundown of the first night http://www.popbuzzuk.com/big-brother-8-2007-begins/ and will have a weekly news update.
The women didn’t choose the guy who went in, but 1 did enter last night.
The twins are ultra annoying, but the hate figure this year is a girl called Charley.
Let me know if you’re up for a bit of a link exchange
