BB8: Recaps! Episode 3, July 10

Wednesday, July 11th, 2007

HouseGuests3.jpg

If by some chance you haven’t caught it, yet, you can watch the full episode on replay at CBS.com and get all the details!

We start out this episode right after the nomination ceremony. Amber is upset, because she’d never put Kail up because they’re both moms. Um, huh? That makes no sense. Carol understands that Kail just doesn’t want to piss people off. And Jessica loves that Kail is doing her dirty work. Kail is comfortable with how it went, and she thinks she got off “Scotch” free. Kail - it’s Scott Free.

Carol says she’s going to fight for Amber, not against her, but how long will that last, hm? Amber is still crying, and I feel like I should start a “cry count” and see if some sort of formula can be worked out to see if breaking down and crying over everything works in the long run. Ha!

BB8: Recaps! Episode 2, July 8

HouseGuests2.jpg

If by some chance you haven’t caught it, yet, you can watch the full episode on replay at CBS.com and get all the details I’m going to gloss over in this mini-recap!

We rejoin the houseguests with a recap of the last episode, and then the feeling of the houseguests reactions to the enemies twist. Carol and Jessica were total BFFs but something happened, and everything went wrong. Dustin and Joe have the worst reaction between them - making things uncomfortable with everyone else. Well, not the worst as Danielle is brought to tears. She considers her dad a friend, not a dad - and a mean friend at that. Dick seems touched by the reaction, and there’s a glimpse of depth to Evil D that is nice to see. Daniele doesn’t remember what exactly happened, but he’s never really been her ‘dad’. He makes the effort to ease things over, and joins Daniele in the bathroom and tries to reach out to her. He promises not to tell folks about her age, and by the end, asks for a hug. He doesn’t get one. I think these two have hope of working things out - it’ll just take some time.

BB8: Recaps!

Episode One, aired July 5th

If, by some stroke of horrible bad luck, you missed the premiere of the hottest summer reality show ever, here’s a brief recap to catch you up on who everyone is, and what happened on July 5th. You can catch the full episode on replay at CBS.com as well so you don’t just have to take my word on it when I say this is going to be a great season!

As with all seasons, we’re given the Big Brother Overview of what the show is about, and what’s going to happen, as well as a preview of the twist - Enemies! An estranged Father and Daughter, Bitter Ex-Lovers, and High School Rivals all will be sharing the house.

Julie Chen looks THIN - skinnier then ever, and despite what other’s say, I like that red dress. She looks fantastic! We get to see each of the houseguests receive their keys, with our first introduction (aside from the previews of the week previous found online!) to the houseguests, in their own - and for the first and only time - brief words.

HouseGuests1.jpg

Jessica - “The only one I’m going to be cheering for is myself!”
Nick - “I’m gonna use this body for bait”
Eric - “No ones ever played the game like me before!”
Danielle - “Don’t underestimate this California girl”
Dick - “The house isn’t gonna know what hit them”
Jen - “My body is not my only asset”
Mike - “I’m gonna paint the rest of the houseguests out of the picture!”
Kail - “I’m gonna run the big brother house”
Joe - “I’m gonna blow away the compition”
Carol - “This senators daughter knows a think or two about politics”
Amber - “I’m about to show you how this game should really be played”
Zack - “I’m gonna outthink the compition”
Dustin - “I’m gonna walk all over the compitition”
Jameka - “I’m a sweet person, but don’t get on my bad side, you’ll regret it.”

Hey there!

Tuesday, July 10th, 2007

Howdy Big Brother Fans! Carrie has been busy the past week, and I offered to catch folks up on what’s going on, so that bigbrothercraze.com can make its mark in the Obsessive Hamster Watching Blogs about the blogasphere!

Straight up - I’ll tell ya, (..are you really gonna love, me forever? Oh, Oh, Ooh.. - name the tune!) I don’t pay for the 24/7 feeds, and get my info on them from elsewhere out the net. I do, however, watch the nightly Hamster Dance (do-si-do!) on Showtime Too, much to my children’s dismay. Anything that I’ve gotten from them, as long as I’m mucking up the floors in Carrie’s Guestroom, will be proceeded by a spoiler alert, for those who don’t want in on the behind the scenes, up to date info that can be gleaned from even a couple hours of listening to the Houseguests talk.

And boy do they talk!
And primp.
And talk.
(And that’s mostly Jen. Ha!)

So let’s get started, huh? Keep track today and expect a flurry of posting as I work on getting us caught up and ready for tonight’s episode on CBS!

Another Big Brother Preview

Wednesday, July 4th, 2007

This preview of Big Brother 8 comes courtesy of ET.

I think the sound bite from Jen pretty much says it all. “A lot of people notice that my hair sheds … a lot … and I don’t care to clean it up.” Why do I get the feeling I’m not going to be a Jen fan?

Big Brother 8 House Tour

Tuesday, July 3rd, 2007

ET featured a Big Brother 8 house tour last night, but it was very short and the only new thing we saw was the gym. Is it just me, or does the gym look pretty much the same as last year? Here’s the video clip - love the little doors on the small bedroom!

BB8 Update on Samantha

Tuesday, July 3rd, 2007

samantha_1.jpgWell it’s official - Samantha was an alternate.

WeLoveBigBrother had a well-timed interview with Executive Producer Allison Grodner yesterday, and asked her about Samantha, the girl who appeared as a houseguest on the TVGuide Channel preview. Samantha was an alternate houseguest in case someone dropped out or broke the rules before entering the house. While Allison said that we’d have to “tune in Thursday” to see who actually made it into the house, I think it’s safe to assume that the 14 people on the CBS website as well as the new commercials are the ones playing the game.

Hopefully we’ll see Samantha back for a future season, as a lot of people seemed to like her clip. Photo is courtesy of Joker’s Updates.

Big Brother 8 Enemy Pairs

Monday, July 2nd, 2007

bbdick.jpgThere’s been a lot of discussion going on about the pairs of enemies that are entering the house. Two have been confirmed so far.

First, Dick and Daniele are father and daughter. Dick’s MySpace page contains a post about how he and his daughter don’t “get” each other and haven’t spoken for “about a quarter of her life.” There’s also a photo of Dick with his daughter and son, Vincent.

Vincent has confirmed the relationship in this post on MySpace, as well as this thread at SurvivorSucks where he answers some questions from fans.

The other pair that is 99% confirmed is Carol and Jessica. They both hail from Haysville, Kansas, and are both dancers. That sets the stage for some competitive spirit already. Carol’s dad has been posting at Joker’s Updates, and apparently confirmed the connection.

Big Brother 8 Preview - Who is Samantha?

Monday, July 2nd, 2007

The TV Guide channel recently aired a Big Brother 8 preview where the houseguests talked a little about their strategies, their annoying habits, and why they’re there. All 14 houseguests appear in this clip - as well as a 15th person named Samantha.

Was Samantha cut at the last minute? Did she drop out? Is she America’s Player? Why does she not appear anywhere else?

Here’s the video clip:

Big Brother 8 Houseguest Bios

Sunday, July 1st, 2007

bb8flamingo.jpgThe Big Brother 8 website is slowly filling out now, and with only four days left until the premiere (huzzah!) there should be more appearing soon.

The houseguest bios are up now, and they make for some interesting reading. I’m always amazed at the small number of people who list BB as one of their favourite TV shows. Even if you were recruited, wouldn’t it be smart to list the show that could potentially give you half a million bucks as one that you enjoy?

There are a couple of surprises there. For example, I wouldn’t have pegged Dick as a Paul McCartney fan, but that puts him up a few notches in my book. And Zach’s not only a graphic designer - one of his hobbies is designing clothes. He has no favourite cookie, however. How is that even possible?

Jameka is going to be someone to watch. She has BB in her favourite shows, and her favoured activities include strategic games like Othello. She seems to be athletic as well.

And we have our stereotypical blonde too, as if that was any surprise. Jessica lists her favourite activities as: dancing, cheering, shopping, tanning, working out, and going out partying.

Julie Chen on Letterman

Friday, June 29th, 2007

No transcript of the show, because YouTube is just so much easier! Here’s Julie Chen’s appearance from last night on The Late Show with David Letterman. Keep in mind that Dave is no fan of reality TV.

The Big Brother 8 Website is Up - Sort Of

Thursday, June 28th, 2007

The CBS Big Brother 8 page is finally up, but there’s very little there to see. The design is nice and fresh, and there are of course some promotional blurbs as well as the pictures and brief bios of the houseguests.

There are also some “Fun Facts” about Big Brother, which is not a bad addition as long as they change frequently. My favourite one is this:

All Star and winner of BB2 Will Kirby has spent the most days in the house with 147. He never won a Head of Household or Power of Veto competition.

Heh. Good old Dr. Will.

Keep checking back though - I’m sure there will be more added soon!

The Newest Twist - America’s Player

Thursday, June 28th, 2007

According to Variety, the details of the widely hinted “most interactive season yet” are coming through now.

Called “America’s Player,” this twist allows fans to vote on things for the houseguests to do, and if they go through with these suggestions they can win extra money. Ideas can range anywhere from voting someone out to something more mundane like flirting. Here’s the quote from Variety:

In a nutshell, that contestant will have the chance to win extra sums of money– but only if they carry out certain actions mandated by viewers via internet or text message voting.

We could have a lot of fun with this one!

Big Brother 8 Cast Announcement

Thursday, June 28th, 2007

It’s finally here! The Big Brother 8 cast was announced this morning on The Early Show, and it appears to be a somewhat diverse group of people. Allison Grodner confirmed once again that some of the houseguests will learn that they’ll be sharing the house with “the last person on earth they’d ever want to see” walk through those doors. This sounds an awful lot like the X-Factor, doesn’t it? They’ll probably do the premiere the same way as they did for that one too.

Anyway, without further ado, here is your Big Brother 8 cast:

Amber, 27 years old, cocktail waitress from Las Vegas, separated

Carol, 21 years old, student from Lawrence, Kansas, single

Daniele, 20 years old, waitress from Huntington Beach, California, single

Dick, 44 years old, bar manager from Los Angeles, single

The Enemies Theme is Confirmed

Wednesday, June 27th, 2007

Thanks to Joker’s Updates for this new commercial, which confirms that the theme this year is indeed Enemies.

Now we just need the cast …
