It’s been flying all over the place - and I’d be remiss not to let ya’ll know it too. According to Gretchen Massey’s MySpace blog that she posted yesterday, House Calls has been canceled.
Subject: House Calls Canceled!
Body: Just wanted everyone to know, there’s no more House Calls! They couldn’t find a sponsor and have decided not to go forward with it during this season of Big Brother.
Sorry to all our fans - I’ll miss you!
Gretchen
That sucks! But maybe there’s enough time for them to find a last minute sponsor. Maybe not. I never watched House Calls religiously but I did love the interviews and Gretchen was always so cute and bubbly. I’ll totally miss getting to see her so often!

In other news - we’re in the home stretch of The Big Brother Experience over at Reality Daze! The first part of the Final Three HOH Competition was last night, with part two happening tomorrow (Tuesday) and part three the following night. We’ll have our first winner crowned on Sunday!
Without the time to have another season before I dedicate every waking second to Big Brother Craze and you, my favorite BBCrazies, we’ve decided to open the forums up for general discussion and tomfoolery - and we’ll be having a BBE Pool Party! Check over at Reality Daze for details and join the fun! And feel free to join for the end of our Big Brother Experience first season too - it’s bound to be a little exciting, at least!
Wait till they get a load of the puzzle I’m working on for part two… MUHAHAHAHAHHAHHAHA!
This morning over at MySpace, Evel Dick is feeling sassy and has a whole bunch of little tidbits about Big Brother 10, HouseCalls, and even the now expected dig at Erik and Jessica. So what’s he up too?
Everyone loved his video blogs for RealPlayer last year, so we can expect more of the same on a bigger scale. (Ok, everyone except you. And maybe you. And you over there in the corner too, but we’ve been ignoring you for a long time and stop sucking your thumb already. And you over there too. LOTS of people, then - not everyone. Happy? *grin*) ANYWAY. This year while the feeds are down for the live broadcasts on Wednesdays, we’ll have something to watch instead of the screen saver and endless loop of the theme song.
Evel Dick will be broadcasting a “loosely put together show of sorts” live from the Cat Club on Sunset Blvd in Hollywood. He’ll have guests, friends, random people - not just past houseguests. He says that some of the guests we’ll recognize, want to have, or want to punch. He’s going to be interviewing big fans of the show that have some type of celeb status or another.
If you don’t have the feeds, and are wondering if this is worth checking into them for, you’ll get to see the first two shows for free, available to everyone. If you like the “trainwreck in the making [he's] calling a show”, it’ll start July 16th.
The deal with Showtime for a Dick at Night show before/after Afterdark fell through due to things out of his control, but we will get more of Dick on Housecalls on Thursdays! This year Housecalls is on at Noon PST, and Evel Dick will be co-hosting with Gretchen on Thursdays where he promises he will get to speak to evicted houseguests. Of course, we’ve heard that last part before, so we’ll see what happens.
Also co-hosting Housecalls this year? Sheila from BB9 (Know that!) will be joining Gretchen on Wednesdays. Not sure who has returned for the other days just yet, but I’ll be sure to let you know as soon as I know.
One last tidbit from Evel Dick - the live eviction audiences will not include past houseguets. They want them to be different then the finale, where all past houseguests are welcomed and invited. So it’ll be all fans, all the time, watching our beloved Chenbot oust a houseguest every week!
TWOOOOOOOOOO BIIIIIIITS! (Pweeeeeeese, Eddie! Yes, I watched Roger Rabbit way to often when my kids were younger - why do you ask?)
All during Housecalls for season 9, and well, ever since his own season, Bunky took a lot of ribbing about his back hair. He took it in stride and joked about it as well, ever being the cute little wooly mammoth that he is. At one point during the season, Evel Dick started telling him that he’d take bits for someone to shave said back hair and rid poor Bunky of his own personal sweater.
Evel Dick apparently didn’t have enough pull. But you know who did? The Banker and Howie Mandell! That’s right, our very own Bunky was on last nights Deal or No Deal, with clippers and $100 in hand, as a contestant was asked to ’show her skill’ at her job. Check out the clip!
Howie looks MORTIFIED - he is well known as a germaphobe and that kind of manscaping pushed him to his limit, I suppose. I just sat here and giggled, myself, as the contestant did exactly what Bunky asked for - just a little off the top. A back Mullet. Who’da thunk it? Nice to see the previous houseguests getting airtime, though, isn’t it? James Rhine was recently in a music video by the Pussycat Dolls, and Kaysar has a new commercial out that’s pretty funny - see?
All of which just makes us want July 13th to come all the faster, right? Right! BRING ON THE NEW HOUSEGUESTS!
Here we go, guys, still MORE on the interview circuit, including one that I’ve decided is my ultimate favorite D/D interview yet…. mainly because they seem to get so uptight about being asked some questions. Heh.
Dick: Not after the questions were asked. I think the jury questions were asked to us on Saturday night and just the tone and how personal it was. Things like Amber’s attack on my daughter, and because of what a “good person” Amber is…
Daniele: And we all know she’s a “good person”.
Dick:After hearing that, and we did not know anything about the anti-Semitic remarks she made. We were informed outside of the house. But, some people get what they deserve.
EdHill:You were a pretty controversial figure yourself all season long. Looking back do you have any regrets on how you played the game?
Dick:I won. I really [don’t think I’d] change anything whatsoever. What I call the ripple effect and what Daniele calls the butterfly effect. You change one thing and it can change everything.
So do I have any regrets? As far as I know, I didn’t fabricate anything, I didn’t lie about anything. I said things that people are afraid to say. Calling people hypocrites.
EdHill:But when it comes to that, you can’t play this game and not be a hypocrite at some point. I mean, you guys lied to Eric and Jess to get rid of them.
Laramy’s (real.com) interviews right after the finale:
RNO: You mentioned that it would have been a 6-1 vote, but it likely would have been 5-2 due to America’s Player. Overall, what did you think of the America’s Player twist?
Zach: Eric is a funny character. His humor is definitely something that helped pass a lot of time in the house. I knew something wasn’t right with him, but couldn’t put my finger on it. I never would have guessed the America’s Player twist. It was an incredible twist on the game. I knew there was something shady but couldn’t figure out what it was. I couldn’t really resolve anything. I think it was a cool little twist. He prevailed pretty well, he did a good job.
RNO: You probably haven’t had a chance to see anything yet, but your religious beliefs were featured quite a bit on TV. One thing you said many times was that you believed the results of Big Brother were pre-ordained by God. With that in mind, why do you believe you were evicted when you were?
Jameka: I still have not come up with a concrete reason as to why I was evicted. I feel I played the best game I could have played. I don’t know if you all saw it when I was a little overboard. I wanted them to not typecast me and I was concerned they were trying to make me into this person and only cater to these areas that were Biblical. I hope they got the other stuff and did not confine me to this one person. When I clapped my hands at Dick, I couldn’t contain my anger at that point.
And the one we’ve all been waiting for, but unfortunately it just doesn’t do good enough…
RNO: Is there anything else you want to tell us about your time in the Big Brother house?
Amber: I do – two things. First, my crying. Everybody looks at me and laughs because I cry so much. But they portrayed me crying all the time. I spoke to my family [about what was shown on TV]. Yes I did cry a lot, but they didn’t show my fun side, my laughing side. It’s very embarrassing. I’m proud that I cry but my daughter was watching and it offends me that they only showed me crying. I had so many times in the house when I didn’t cry, they really showed my character not to be me and that really bothers me.
[The second thing is] I made a comment when I was upset with Eric – I made it about Jewish people and people from New York. I just want to tell the people I offended that I am very sorry. I did not mean to offend anybody and I was upset with Eric at the time. Being upset, people tend to say things they don’t mean. That came from a really bad place, and from the bottom of my heart, I am truly sorry – I send my apologies to anyone I offended. I don’t like to hurt people’s feelings. The words just came out and I was upset with Eric. I have friends that are Jewish and friends from New York. I am not prejudiced and I am truly truly truly sorry.
OK - I can’t let that last one go by without saying something - and well, loudly calling BULLSHIT. Those comments were made BEFORE she got upset with Eric about the whole secret that she told the whole world business. Those comments included the statements that she learned these things from her mother and sister who feel the same way. Sorry Amber - apology NOT accepted. Someone set this wackjob straight? PLEASE?
Ok - After the cut! Zach and Eric on Housecalls! Whoo!
..take it all. Today is a day FILLED with interviews, as we all expected. Most of them involve the Donatos, and a lot ask the same questions, so I’m going to post links to all of the ones I can find. As for myself, I’m most interested in the other houseguests interviews at this point, but alas - they haven’t been published yet, so we’ll have to wait on those.
FYI - Tomorrow is the final House Calls of the season, and will have Zach and Eric on the show. It seems that the one comment that Eric made (and explained by his brother and seen on feeds, that HE DID NOT EVEN START) has gotten to Dick, and he is upset about it per his house calls interview today (see it at the end of this psot). However, kudos to Dick for saying that he needs to watch the show first, and THEN decide how he feels about the comments and Eric. So at least he’s waiting for more information. Hopefully, people get him the CORRECT and TRUE information.
Anyway - to start things off!
The Early Show - where Julie brushes off talking about America’s Player, and concentrates on the Donato’s relationship.
And links to some of the better articles out there after the cut, PLUS Dick and Daniele on House Calls!
Every season of Big Brother has its stand-out personalities. During Big Brother 3, we met Marcellas Reynolds and knew immediately that he was one of those stand-outs. Since BB3, Marcellas has gone on to host House Calls and appear in Big Brother All Stars. But there’s a whole lot more to the man than just Big Brother.
I recently had the opportunity to catch up with Marcellas and ask him a few questions on life after Big Brother.
Carrie: Hi Marcellas! Thanks for taking the time to answer my questions! For anyone who isn’t up to date on what you’ve been doing lately, what’s been keeping you busy since last season’s All Stars?
Marcellas: Well I’m “Celebrity Stylist” Marcellas Reynolds. Who knows what the moniker means? I’m a fashion stylist. I work with celebrities such as David Schwimmer, Eddie Cibrian, Jennifer Finnegan and several others on fashion shoots and for special events like the Emmys, Grammys… I’ve also become popular on the TV make-over circuit. The Tyra Banks Show, How Do I Look, E! News Daily, The Daily 10, The Greg Behrendt’s Show… the list grows each day. I’m shooting a pilot with Telepictures on the day House Calls starts. I wouldn’t have been available the first episode anyway. I’m literally booked out 2 months
in advance with TV shows and appearances. I just shot MTV’s Next, where I did make-overs on the daters and coming up I have a few epis of a new fashion series for VH1. I’m blessed. And busy.
Carrie: You’ve become quite the fashion maven these days, with columns in Life & Style and all of your television appearances! How would you define your own personal style?
Marcellas: My style? I’d say classic meets casual with a bit of hip. I always do a blazer. Even with jeans. Lately I’ve discovered ascots, pocket squares and scarves. And of course a good watch. Then a great pair of jeans that aren’t ripped or distressed and a good shoe. Men should always wear polished shoes and a good watch. I have a Rolex and a vintage Tag Heuer that I alternate.
Carrie: Who would you say is the best dressed celebrity right at this moment? The worst? Why?
Marcellas: Right now I love Cameron Diaz, Halle Berry and Natalie Portman. They are always sexy, classy, yet still take risks. I also love Mischa Barton. Everything looks good on her. Paris, Nicole and the Olsen sisters are fashion nightmares. Paris and Nicole are Zoe-bots (Rachel Zoe) and have her style. Clones that look just like her. And the Olsen twins never dress to their physical stature. Everything overwhelms them. And they have questionable taste. If someone says,”It’s the bag of the moment,” or shoe or whatever, they have it. Even if it isn’t cute.
It’s official - Marcellas Reynolds will not be returning as co-host of House Calls.
Marcellas posted in the forum of his website yesterday, explaining the reasons why he’s not coming back this season:
Alas it is time to make a statement. Due to budget cuts @ CBS Interactive, a format change & my increasingly busy TV and fashion career, I will not be returning as day to day host of House Calls. House Calls was created 4 years ago with me in mind. It is a show that I am tremendously proud to have been a part of. I not only hosted it but helped to produce it. As a part of the Big Brother, family I am honored to have worked on it and have been so closely identified with it. On a more personal note House Calls gave me something amazing, a friend, the brilliant and talented Gretchen Massey.
All signs are pointing to Gretchen Massey hosting the show on her own this season, along with a string of guest hosts as they did last season. Personally I’m disappointed - I think Marcellas was perfect for House Calls and brought his own special brand of insight to the show. He’ll be missed.
House Calls is the internet talk show that’s on daily during the Big Brother season. It airs online, and streams from the current season’s page at CBS.com. Up until last season it was hosted by Marcellas Reynolds and Gretchen Massey, but when Marcellas went into the All Stars house CBS had to juggle with guest co-hosts for Gretchen. Bunky did quite a few, and then they finally settled on Jase for most of the season, which turned out to be a little awkward for viewers. Okay, maybe that’s just me.
Personally I had hoped for the return of Marcellas this season. I like the guy, and he and Gretchen have good chemistry together. I can’t yet confirm anything, but it doesn’t look like it’s a done deal. Of course there are rumours; the biggest one currently circulating claims that Janelle will be co-hosting with Gretchen.
Perhaps the biggest clue though comes from Bunky, who is apparently in the running to take over Marcellas’ spot. He sent an e-mail to Big Brother Updates asking people to contact CBS and request Bunky as the new co-host. Hmm. He mentions that he’s got some stiff competition, as CBS “might be talking to Jase or Marcellas.” He seems to be unclear as to whether or not he’s actually even being considered.
Do you watch House Calls? Who do you think the best co-host would be?
