More on the New Big Brother 8 Theme
There are loads of discussions going around about the possibility of the new Big Brother 8 theme. So many, in fact, that I’m not going to worry about leaving spoiler space this time as I did with my first report. If you don’t enjoy reading spoilers, even those that are based on speculation, then stop reading now.
Still with me? Good.
As I mentioned before, TV Grapevine is reporting that the new theme for Big Brother 8 will be school bullies versus those they bullied. But posts on other message boards are hinting that this is a bit extreme. It seems that the theme has something to do with past friends and enemies, not necessarily bullies or those they bullied.
This post at Survivor Sucks was started by someone who claims to have made it to the semi-finals in the auditions process, and was asked questions about past friends and enemies in high school. Most of his or her posts have been cleared out for giving away too much information, but it’s not difficult to piece things together from the rest of the conversation. It is also suggested that the theme might have something to do with vengeance.
Big Brother Access has the original post in its entirety, which also details some of the other people who were in the semi-finals and may have made it onto the show. It’s also worth noting that this person was recruited through their MySpace page, which was set to private at the time and only contained his or her picture.
It’s looking more and more like we’ll be seeing people with existing relationships, good or bad, entering the house this year.

Hmmm, that’s a dangerous route to go down as a theme, because it could lead to new bullying, and people ganging up on each other.
I know from experience with the British BB that bullying, racism, and violence can quickly ensue.

You’re 100% right Dave - I read all about Shilpa and what went on with Celeb BB last season.
Although we’ve had our share of bullying and racism too. The producers here don’t share that kind of thing on the television though - you pretty much have to catch it on the live feeds. One woman uttered some pretty harsh racial slurs in her season, but was invited back for the All Stars edition and ended up in second place. So there’s not the same kind of public outcry in the US for some reason.
