So, about that Camaro…

Turns out that Big Brother didn’t even OWN Memphis’ car! According to TMZ, the ‘69 Camaro that Memphis won on the first episode wasn’t even theirs to give away, someone else holds the title and they returned the car immediately to that someone after the contest. Memphis, of course, didn’t find any of this out until Tuesday - and hey, to top it all off? They repainted the car too!
So first the report said that the producers were scrambling to purchase the car, who reportedly wanted $24k for it. Then, earlier today, Big Brother set up a test drive for the car to see if Memphis wanted it for sure before they laid out the cash just to have him turn around and sell it later.
What did Memphis decide? It was a gas-guzzler and just wasn’t for him, so he settled for cash from CBS and Big Brother instead. How much cash? No one’s saying, just yet, but that’s more dough for the Trip to Vegas and upcoming Renegade Wear, hm?
The backyard interviews with Evel Dick are popping up on Real - be sure to check them out! As soon as I find them on youtube, I’ll put them up here too. Check out the comments in the post below with the interviews - Michigan Man, Billy and Samantha have some cool tidbits from the variety of interviews they’ve read too!

That is just so weird about that car. Hope he held out for a good amount of money. Should ask for at least 30k since it affected his game the whole time. Watching re-feeds and April just mentioned it during Keesha’s HOH. It was only worth 40k at this time.
Make’s you wonder if April’s clothes were just on loan too. Maybe Libra’s trip is just a discount coupon for a flight.
This year’s show seemed really low budget.

Lessa, thanks for the update!!
Well, good for Memphis! Just as I said in my comments in the last post (after Alicia posted the link to the TMZ post about the car), if I were Memphis, I would opt for cash, rather than an impractical car (gas guzzler, as you said), that I would just have to pay taxes on anyway. Plus, it saves Memphis all the hassles of trying to sell the car, if he did want to get the cash from it.
I agree with Michigan Man - I hope that Memphis got a bit more money out of BB for the car than the $24,000 that the owner was willing to sell it for. Just writing a check to Memphis seems a whole lot easier than purchasing the car, taking possession of it, and then transferring the title and delivering it to Memphis. So, they should be happy that he opted for the check.
Not for nothing, but speaking of “gas guzzlers” - I wondered from the very beginning why BB would even have this car as a prize anyway. In these days of tremendously high gas prices, plus environmental concerns, I would have thought they would give away a hybrid if they were ever having a car as a prize.
Oh well, I’m sure that somewhere down the lie Memphis will reveal for us just how much $$$ he got out of BB for the car. LMAO, I guess this is the LAST time that BB will ever be giving away a car!
Hmmm, I wonder if Libra really won a trip to Hawaii? Maybe there was a loophole to that prize too! Ha!!

Oops, typo! In my next to last paragraph, I meant to say that somewhere down the LINE (not lie). Hmm, Freudian slip, as in BB lies all the time?

I’m glad they agreed to pay him cash. Crazy that they would even offer a car as a prize if they didn’t even have possession of it, though. I’m sure Memphis is happier with the cash anyway!

I’d rather have cash too, and a new convertible or hybrid.
